MISCELLANEOUS MONDAY: A GAGGLE OF CREEPY BRITISH GHOST MOVIES

Today’s miscellaneous quickie is a treasure trove of extremely atmospheric and sinister films from the mist-shrouded British Isles that can be watched on YouTube RIGHT NOW. Seriously, this is a GREAT list if you are into ghosts and creeping dread…

1. The Woman in Black (BBC, 1989)

Not to be confused with the recent remake starring Harry Potter. This is the original made-for-telly version of the classic novella by Susan Hill. If you’ve never seen this, you really owe it to yourself to bust it out some night before Halloween, because it is one of the absolute best EVER, in my opinion. This is available chunked up as this playlist:

2. Whistle And I’ll Come To You (BBC, 1968)

A great version of the M.R. James classic, which has actually been adapted twice at the BBC (the other one with John Hurt is also well worth seeking out)…

3. A Warning To The Curious (BBC, 1972)

And yet another M.R. James story done up with loads of atmosphere…

4. The Signalman (BBC, 1976)

A Dickens story closes things out, featuring a great performance by the talented Denholm Elliott

Until next time!
